The building had a nice period feel. Breakfast was good and parking was free. The staff were friendly. The shower was handheld‑free and the shower area smelled like sewage; the bath was unclean. Towels were old and one had a hole. Our double poster bed was very soft, high, and too small for two adults. They forgot our complimentary bottle of wine. We had to walk a long way to the lake front and uphill on the return. The retreat is in a different location and not within walking distance.

A cozy little spot with lovely staff and a pleasant vibe; overall I liked it. The only downsides were the fairly worn towels and the lack of a lift, which made moving a baby and many bags difficult.

The property is ideally positioned with bars and restaurants nearby. It’s a nice walk to Bowness or you can easily catch a bus. There are pleasant walks right at the doorstep and the train station is a ten‑minute walk away. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast is very good and high‑quality food is used.

The location and breakfast were good. The bathroom needs serious attention: the bath and tiles have excessive black mold, could be fixed in a few hours, and may pose a health risk. There is no air conditioning.
