We liked the apartment itself; it was more spacious than a typical hotel room. Its location was fantastic, offering an unobstructed view of the harbor basin and a beautiful sunset that could be enjoyed from the balcony. The price was very reasonable, yet a high service fee was included for the two nights. Still, you have to bring your own glass bottles down. Also, it’s common practice to only start the dishwasher on the last day and leave it running; emptying it is not required because the programs take a long time. Here, they demanded that the dishwasher be emptied before leaving the apartment.

The apartment sits in a prime spot in the Old Harbor, just 10 minutes from the train station. It’s on the 4th floor and easily reachable by elevator. The space is modern and fully equipped. Throwing away your rubbish should be a given, but the disposal behind the building is outdated. Even in Wismar, trash is separated, so this is a real inconvenience. The instruction to dispose of glass, paper, etc. near the bus station is a real hassle, especially when you’re heading to the train station on the departure day with two suitcases. The strict minute‑by‑minute inspection of the apartment feels like a throwback to the Jugendherberge era.
