The inn itself is pleasant and the beds provided a very comfortable rest. The gentleman at the restaurant was exceptionally polite, welcoming, and professional. The front desk, however, completely ruined our stay because of a severe lack of transparency and internal communication. When we arrived, the reception staff vaguely mentioned that we could have breakfast the next morning but didn’t say their strict cutoff hours. The next morning we discovered that standard breakfast was already closed. Instead of helping us, they just pointed us to the brunch service without telling us any price difference. As international travelers, we shouldn’t have to know the exact pricing of a local brunch; the inn should have informed us clearly. We only sat for 10 minutes to have a quick, basic breakfast (pancakes, two omelets, and coffee), and the restaurant staff explicitly told us there would be “no bill” for what we ordered. At check‑out, our room invoice was clear, and the front desk didn’t ask for any payment. Out of personal integrity, we told the reception about our meal to make sure everything was correct. Instead of honoring the staff’s gesture or acknowledging their own failure to communicate hours and prices, the front desk took advantage of our honesty and rigidly charged us 84 dollars—the full premium brunch rate. The room was also quite cramped and had a lingering smoke odor. We paid to avoid an argument, but penalizing a guest’s integrity to cover up internal miscommunication is very poor customer service. This is a serious management issue. While we don’t expect the property to reach out spontaneously, issuing a partial refund to adjust the charge to the actual price of a simple breakfast would be the only professional way to fix this mistake.
