The location was perfect for exploring Cairns, and the Chinese restaurant inside the property was well worth a visit or two. The bed was comfortable. The shower was good but not suitable for older people because the bath has high sides. There was obviously quite a bit of previous water damage in the main room. The fridge cupboard had expanded and was breaking away. There was no toaster or snack facilities, only a kettle and cups. The bathroom fan, including the toilet fan, was apparently not working. The sealant around the bath was peeling.

The rooms got a fresh look, bathrooms are superb, and the space is generous; breakfast was tasty and the location is great. The lack of an elevator is a downside, the breakfast area needs a makeover, and parking right next to the glass pool fence is cramped, clearly a spot for someone to break in.

Everything was spotless, the bed was firm and comfortable, showers were excellent, and the Chinese dinner at the restaurant was tasty with staff who were very friendly and helpful. The fridge didn’t stay cold enough for our wine or leftovers – it hit 8 degrees, which isn’t safe – and breakfast only offered fruit, cereal, or toast, which felt a bit limited.
