The location, room comfort, facilities, and staff were all excellent, though the WiFi wasn’t always reliable.

This hotel is beautiful—the greenery and vibe remind me a bit of Raffles in Singapore, and the lobby and décor feel very luxurious. The room was huge with an old‑world charm, including a desk drawer full of writing paper and envelopes. It’s in a convenient spot, with a train station and a 7‑Eleven right next door, and taxis to the airport and main sights are cheap (though the train is probably better when traffic is heavy). The porters are extremely friendly and helpful. I slept soundly for two nights—super quiet! Two windows let in plenty of light and offered a nice city view, plus I could see the 6th‑floor pool from my window to gauge its busyness. I didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on the food. The room was mostly spotless, but there were a few hairs in the bath that I didn’t put there; they were easy to wash away and everything else was clean. The plug sockets need replacement—the one in the bathroom only worked intermittently, so I had to dry my hair in the bedroom. The bedroom sockets also seemed old. The wardrobe light was useful, but on the second night I couldn’t turn it off because the door didn’t close properly (the first night I spent ages trying to keep it off, but there must be a trick). Also, you must give a deposit upon arrival and they don’t accept visa debit cards (apparently you get charged if you do), so I had to scramble for fifty euros in cash. If you don’t have a credit card, bring some Baht, USD, Euros, etc. They also don’t provide slippers—fine, but if you’re used to similar hotels in SE Asia, bring your own.

The staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was good, but although the room was large and comfortable, the bathroom felt outdated.
