The abandoned estate has been restored by the owning couple and has been kept in great shape with a lot of love and hard work—kudos! Il Borghetto has a wonderful vibe, is very clean, and the atmosphere is warm. Every three days the family serves an excellent homemade dinner (ask which days) in a peaceful setting away from the city bustle, with a lovely view over the vineyards. The owners are very interested in personal contact and service. The pool area is also fantastic. Overall, the whole property is beautifully maintained. The road is a gravel track that gets quite dusty and worn, especially in dry periods—though that’s the city’s responsibility. Low‑lying sports facilities might not be ideal here. There isn’t a proper breakfast service (the place offers self‑catering apartments, not hotel rooms), but you can order croissants and enjoy breakfast drinks on the terrace.

The villa, the staff, the location, and the food were all fantastic. The only downside was that there is no proper road to the villa; instead, a deeply rutted gravel track with severe potholes and a steep incline in places caused damage to the underside of our rented vehicle. I wouldn’t have booked this spot had I known how bad that track was.

I would rather higher than a 10 if possible. The owners are first rate! They care about their guests. The property is fabulous and well maintained. A piece of paradise! Well done and you see the day to day work that goes into running their business! It is a labor of love. Meals were some of the best food we ate. Take advantage to meal offerings, you will not be sorry!. We loved every second when we were there!
