“I would not stay at he Pousada again because I feel courtesy matters. This is a shame because it is a gem of a place in”
I appreciated the room change; it was in a quiet spot, very spacious, with an outdoor seating area and a hammock. The garden, pool area and breakfast area were lovely and had a traditional Brazilian vibe. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection for all tastes, and the location was ideal. I didn’t like the room I originally booked because it was misrepresented: the bed didn’t have enough space, and a fridge was separated from the bed by a half‑height wall, with no chair in that area even though it was advertised as a sitting area. I wondered if I was supposed to sit on the fridge. There was no balcony, and the window opened onto a pleasant pedestrian area. I switched rooms within an hour, and because I had a drink from the bar, the receptionist added that drink to the new room’s record sheet. When I checked out, another receptionist calculated the drinks used at 97 real, which differed from my own calculation of 95 real. She then recalculated, claiming I had 3 drinks in the previous room, which was wrong. The new amount was 127 real. I said that was not true but I’d pay because my friend was nearby and waiting for me. She then wanted to have a long phone discussion with a translator, and I was getting more frustrated. Luckily, my friend came to the reception. He is Brazilian and could see the smoke coming from my ears and told the girl that my friend would pay. She started to process the payment on her phone, and he told her to stop and use the official payment method. I left feeling that one person could ruin my visit. A couple of hours before I checked out, a friend I met in Itacare in January came to see the manager to collect a gift I had for him, his little girl, and his mother. The girl told me he wasn’t allowed to accompany me to my room to collect the gift and made him wait in the breakfast area. I found that a bit rude to my friend, so I apologized to the girl, saying I was sorry if I offended her, and she shrugged her shoulders at me—very disappointing reaction, I thought.
