Cocotiers Hotel – Mauritius

“Sensación de asco.”

I think this is probably the worst place I've ever stayed. The whole place is chaotic, the staff seem lazy, and cleanliness is definitely not a priority. The common areas have dirty floors, stray cats and dogs roaming around, a pool that hasn't been cleaned for months and is full of mosquitoes, and lounge chairs that are supposed to be white but are actually black with holes in the fabric. The bean‑bags shown in the photos are covered in bird droppings and weren't cleaned during our 5‑day stay. In the room, there's no window, no lamp (the only light came from two rotten sconces), the floor is completely black, the tables were dirty from day one and never cleaned, the minibar fridge sits on a broken pallet, and the bathroom is a nightmare—full of bugs, a shower with broken tiles, and a shower door that can't close. Basically, it's a paradise for those who want to stay in absolute misery.

Breakfast was decent, nothing special. The restaurant was okay, though the self‑serve options were not great, but the staff were excellent. Cleaning in the rooms was superb; I think turning off the AC before leaving would save energy. The bathrooms looked a bit old‑fashioned and could use some minor repairs, but nothing serious.

“Comfortable rooms with gorgeous views”

Everything was fine, the sunsets were beautiful and the staff were friendly. Food options were limited and the hotel dining was not good.

Value for money was very good, and the staff were welcoming. The proximity to traffic made the area fairly noisy.

The staff were welcoming. The room faced the karaoke area, and the pool’s heat‑pump (located under the balcony) was loud.
