“Lovely location and peaceful setting, but sadly the poor cleanliness, safety and maintenance issues”
The location was excellent, the setting was peaceful, and the bathroom and bath were lovely and well‑equipped. However, the caravan needed a serious deep clean and maintenance; I spent about 3 hours cleaning on arrival. The kitchen cupboards and handles were sticky inside and out, the sofa had crumbs and hairs underneath, furniture hadn’t been cleaned underneath, vents had dust and cobwebs, the fridge needed cleaning, and the remote was filthy. I had read similar reviews before arriving and brought my own cleaning products, but I didn’t expect to spend hours cleaning. The host was responsive before the stay but stopped responding when I asked about the mop, missing patio table and TV batteries. I asked twice for a mop so I could properly clean the floors, but none was provided. I met the cleaner at checkout and was told there is no mop at the property. The host initially said her cleaner cleans everything, although the cleaner explained she is responsible for turnover only. The host later said she had cleaned it herself, despite her bio stating she prides herself on cleanliness. There is no patio table as advertised, only three broken chairs and an indoor table outside. The balcony had fallen plinths, exposed nails and inadequate support, which I considered unsafe for children and pets. A saw was also left on the floor. The TV batteries were dead and I had to buy replacements. The double bed was extremely uncomfortable as every metal spring could be felt. On checkout day I was gathering my last bits and cleaning (again) when the host called me and was rude, told me checkout was 10am, despite my booking stating 11am, and said I shouldn’t be cleaning the property; I should have found somewhere else to stay if I wasn’t happy… The bathroom and oven were clean and the property has potential, but the cleanliness, missing advertised furniture, bed, maintenance and safety issues seriously affected our stay.
