The pool water was murky.
“Basics were good, some weird details like no wifi in the room and no free breakfast as advertised”
The place was clean, spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The price differed from what was agreed via the booking site, so you need to cancel and book manually to get the same rate… there was no Wi‑Fi in the room and no free breakfast as advertised.
Overall, it was acceptable, but compared to other places we’ve been to in Sri Lanka, it really falls short. The pool was very dirty; the bottom wasn’t visible, so swimming felt like a dare. The room was fine with basic amenities, the air conditioning worked well, and the sheets looked clean and the towels were good. The bathroom was also acceptable, though we preferred not to use it much. They had a restaurant, but we chose to eat out at the great local restaurants nearby. In short, I don’t think the quality justifies the price, and I’d look for other options if they’re available.
“Fijne plek met behulpzaam personeel.”
The property is nicely placed, although you have to wander down a side street that is clearly signposted. The employees were very helpful and pleasant, and the pool is lovely surrounded by lush vegetation. The rooms feel spacious and comfortable, and there’s a real wood‑fired pizza oven they use when they make pizzas themselves. The owner happened to be on site and lives in Italy. It’s about a ten‑minute walk to the beach. Unfortunately there isn’t a proper “aperitivo” service; only water and soft drinks were offered in the afternoon.
“Zielony hotel”
A fantastic spot to stay, spotless and surrounded by lush greenery, with a gorgeous pool and ample parking. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the chef whips up authentic pizza in a wood‑burning oven. The beach is just an 8‑minute walk away, and breakfast is solid while nearby restaurants and bars are convenient. The only small issue—typical for Sri Lanka, not Europe—is the ants, which vanish after spraying with a suitable agent like Mugga. We’d definitely recommend this place. Nothing else really bothers me; if the sheets were white, everything would be 100% perfect.
