The restaurant was exquisite, the food in the evenings and breakfast was wonderful, and the service was top‑class. The room felt a bit small and the bathtub was not really suitable for showering.

Broholm Castle, a 12th‑century manor on Denmark’s Fyn island, remains in one family’s hands for 13 generations. Its 12‑acre park boasts a moat, watermill, and lake. Rooms feature antique décor, seating, desks, and optional kitchenettes. The on‑site restaurant serves Danish cuisine with French flair, using seasonal local produce. Nearby Svendborg and a 17‑km golf club add convenience.

The setting, the castle, the lovely lounges for a drink, the dinner worthy of a Michelin star, and the very complete breakfast with quality products were all outstanding. The shower needs a modernisation.

The three‑course dinner was superb, the staff were friendly and smiling, the location was lovely, and the historic feel was great. The many narrow stairs were a drawback.

The interiors and surroundings were beautiful, the staff wonderful, the food excellent, and it was close to nice spots like Valdemar Slot and Langeland; it became one of our favourite castle stays. The bathrooms are a little old, but that’s to be expected from a 17th‑century castle.

The coffee and breakfast were tasty, though a bit pricey. We felt very welcome, but it isn’t a stay for the badly‑abled, and I probably wouldn’t have chosen the place after finding out the toilet was on the hallway, especially with my 88‑year‑old mother.
