“Magnifique EcoLodge !”
The spot is amazing, right in nature, and the place feels cozy with a tasteful décor! We spent four nights that were truly unforgettable. Alexandra, the host, is incredibly kind. Even though our English was poor, she always took time to chat with us at every encounter. The sauna is free; you just need to coordinate with her to book a slot. For the brave, a hole in the ice lets you experience the Finnish style! The whole setting is fantastic, exactly the nature you seek in Lapland. Alexandra is also very available, gives good advice, and can arrange activities for a fee. We loved our stay, even though the lack of running water (as explained below) required a small adjustment. It’s still a unique experience that’s definitely worth the trip! On the downside, there’s no tap water in the accommodation, so you can’t wash dishes; the toilets are composting and you can only rinse with the bucket water provided in the sauna. It’s Finnish, but it was at least a bit surprising for us French! I didn’t see it listed or it wasn’t specifically mentioned, so we were a bit taken aback on arrival, but it’s an experience! Doing your business in the composting toilet outside at –20 or –30 feels more delicate, but the temperatures were fine.
