“Rays of sunshine on a stormy day”
Where do I even begin? The place is exceptional, the farm on which the shepherd’s hut sits feels like a storybook. The hut itself was clean, well equipped, the water hot, the bed comfortable, and the skylight was a lovely bonus. There’s a fire pit (wood supplied), peace and quiet, a few friendly animals, and a large outdoor area for guests. Most importantly, our hosts Geoff and Phil were impeccable—calling them attentive is an understatement. We had a series of mishaps during our trip, including a burnt clutch in our car, and Geoff stepped in right before his own holiday, used his personal time to help us sort everything out, called local garages, negotiated with the AA, and gave emotional support. None of that was expected, and it meant everything to us. Geoff saved our first wedding anniversary trip; we returned home with a new clutch, on time, and with a gratitude that felt larger than life. We’re overwhelmed by their kindness, and while I don’t wish anyone had that kind of adventure on holiday, it shows clearly that you’ll be in good hands if you stay with them. P.S. They left us a bottle of fizz for our anniversary as soon as they heard about it. The only negative was that we caused a bit of mayhem during our stay.
