Seaside Cabin Bucana

“Einfache Hütte direkt am Strand.”

The place sits right on the beach, though the huts don’t have sea views. The owners are very friendly and offer a tasty breakfast. It’s genuinely cozy and rustic. The shower water pressure is barely a trickle, and if the tank empties it can take half a day before water returns for the shower and toilet. The bathroom is functional but quite spartan. Noise from neighbors is constant, especially when they start loud music at 6 am—something you have to get used to.

The location is highly recommended; Bucana is worth it if you want to escape the crowded area around El Nido and its mass tourism. We have to be honest if that helps future guests decide. They have a good attitude, include breakfast and coffee… but the cabin was very disappointing. We had built expectations from the photos and reviews, and our experience was far from what we anticipated. Some things are beyond the owners’ control, but at night it was very hard to sleep because our cabin’s location was noisy. The smoke from burning trash and what we suspect came from nearby kitchens drifted straight into the cabin since the windows were open. Finally, the biggest blot was that we were infested with bedbugs like never before… (I should say we travel a lot). We don’t want to damage the place’s reputation, but we think it’s fair for future travelers to know. It’s not bad if you’re looking for something authentic and not overly pricey; comfort isn’t the priority but the area is still worth it.

“Good option for Bucana”

A simple bungalow by the beach that worked as expected; the hosts were available and helpful. Nearby are good restaurants and massage spots. Breakfast was fine. There’s a scooter parking spot. The neighborhood gets noisy at night, which I didn’t mind but may not suit everyone. The beach itself is dirty, so we headed to Duli beach instead.
