“Overall great!”

Location near chairlifts and convenience store, buffet breakfast, private bathroom with bidet and mini fridge was great! The discount for hotel guests at the burger joint Sessions was awesome too! Delicious melt in your mouth burgers!. The heater in the drying area was not turned on one night and boots were still wet the next morning. The shower drainage was working normally until 3 days later when water started to overflow out of the drainage grill right outside the bathtub. Not sure if it's a bad design or just faulty. Had to physically dry the bathroom floor with the floormat despite never filling it up with water over the 7 nights of stay. The bidet was working until the very last day when it wouldn't turn on, but since it was the last day, all sweet!

I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel's fantastic location, being close to a bus stop and situated right in the heart of the resort. However, I was a bit disappointed with the overall state of the building and rooms, which seemed quite worn out. The cafeteria was also quite basic, and the amenities didn't quite live up to the standards I've come to expect from international ski resorts.

“The perfect base for a magical ski holiday in Shiga Kogen”

This hotel turned out to be an all-around excellent base for skiing and exploring the local restaurants, with the nearest lift just a 5-minute walk away and a bus stop right outside. The facilities were also top-notch, with pre- and post-luggage storage, a ski locker room, and a downstairs bar that was excellent (get there early!). I booked a traditional room with Futon bedding, which was very warm and comfy after a long day on the slopes.

“Shiga Kogen ups and downs”

The hotel's good location and friendly, helpful staff made for a pleasant stay. The Sessions Bar at the entrance was lively, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. However, I was a bit disappointed with the state of the room carpet, which could have done with a good clean. We also had issues with hot water on the first night, and the beds were only okay. To make matters worse, the buffet dinner was a letdown, with poor-quality food that was lukewarm.

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was marred by some unpleasant experiences. The trash cans in the hallway were not covered, and the smell of rotting food wafted through the corridors. It was also disappointing to be treated like a student on a field trip, with a single plate of food served at the buffet. The hotel's handling of student groups and regular guests seemed to be lacking.
