“I'm surprised we didn't leave with some kind of bacterial infection from the mold and dampness”
The free Wi‑Fi and a reasonably sized mini‑fridge were handy, and the front‑desk guy was friendly and polite after I called a number and waited about 5 minutes for him to arrive from somewhere else. But the room was a nightmare: daylight leaked in through the door, paint peeled everywhere, stains covered the carpet, and the mattress had no fitted sheets or protection—just a wet, stained surface. Pill bugs crawled across the carpet and into the bathroom, the toilet wouldn’t flush, mold grew from the fan, the towel rack was gone, half a toilet‑paper holder remained, the closet door wouldn’t stay shut because it was painted over, and the air‑conditioning unit was exposed. The place felt unsafe, damp, and moldy, with paint bubbles on the ceiling suggesting water damage, a tarp on the roof outside, cigarette burns on the mattresses, sheets, and bedding, and an exposed electrical outlet behind the bed that looked dangerous.
