“Exceptional”
The surroundings are gorgeous, and the staff went above and beyond; the food was excellent, and room 32 was lovely and exceptionally clean. I’d definitely recommend the cream tea and loved the welcome committee—three geese! On the downside, the dining room lacked ambience; it felt like an after‑thought space where you just wanted your meal and left, more like a staff canteen than an inviting dining area.

The location and staff were great, and the food was good, but I felt the accommodation was overpriced compared to similar hotels in the area.

The historic atmosphere in the middle of Dartmoor was a highlight, but the food was rather mediocre and didn’t live up to what the menu promised.
