Ruth’s Vandrarhem in Skutskär sits under ten minutes’ drive from Furuvik Zoo, five minutes from the Stora Enso paper mill, and thirty minutes from Gävle’s industrial zone. Each uniquely decorated room overlooks a garden, with shared bathrooms and free on‑site Wi‑Fi. Guests enjoy a terrace breakfast, garden BBQ, nearby grocery stores, restaurants, and the Älvkarleby Golf Club just 6 km away.

We received a very pleasant welcome and a tour; our room was cozy and spacious with comfortable beds, wardrobes, a desk, and a nice sofa to relax on. The view looked out onto a lovely garden. The bathroom was clean, fresh, and close to our room. On the lower floor there’s a well-equipped kitchen, a toilet, and a lounge with a sofa, TV, and many board games, and outside it was furnished so you could sit and enjoy. Nothing negative to mention.

The full‑coverage mat was soft. I didn’t like having to wait 30 minutes to check in. She wasn’t home, she was at a crayfish party. She didn’t answer the phone, SMS, or email until after 30 minutes. By then I decided to leave and try to get a refund. I also tried contacting her with no result or a complicated process. Ruth hadn’t sent a welcome email beforehand, she had no idea I had booked and thought I was just dropping by, when in fact I had booked several weeks in advance. The décor was old, the bedside lamps couldn’t be turned on because of the wrong type of socket, not grounded. The booking states double room de luxe for 2 adults and a child, but where would the child sleep? I also didn’t like the feeling that Ruth didn’t care about not answering or that she didn’t even know I’d booked; it felt unprofessional. It cost at least 450 kr, and for a few more hundred I could have had a hotel overnight with a private bathroom, TV, and breakfast.

Boendet ligger centralt i Skutskär och har en bekväm säng och billigt pris. Det var smutsigt i det gemensamma badrummet
