The chalet sits alone, wrapped by jungle on every side, which was amazing. The rooms were tiny and a bit bare, but they were spotless, had mosquito nets and felt great. The shared kitchen had enough gear for basic cooking. Only downside was the lack of a fan – on humid days the heat got uncomfortable.

We loved the wooden lodge – simple but works, right in the middle of the forest where we saw birds and monkeys daily. The owner was friendly and sorted out tours and rides even though his English was limited, and he even got up at 5 am to serve breakfast before our excursions. The family dog roamed around and was super friendly.

The spot was really peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The only problem was the location – without your own car you’re a long way from Drake, making it hard to get around.

The room had a nice view, but the heat was brutal at 35 °C and there was no fan. To make matters worse, the sheets and towels weren’t clean, so we checked out early and didn’t get any refund.

This hostel feels like a slice of nature – you hear only birds, insects and rustling leaves, and it’s a short walk from town, though Juan Carlos was always ready to help with anything. I wish I could have stayed longer; it was that good.
