The staff were very kind, and the location was great—just a short walk from the bamboo forest and perfect for celebrating Obon in August. The apartment had everything I needed, including a washing machine and breakfast.

The room smelled stuffy; I had to open the windows to air it out, and there was no hot water.

The place is really well situated—just a 5‑minute walk to the train station and close to everything in Arashiyama. Right next to the apartment is a beautiful, uncrowded temple where you can truly enjoy Arashiyama. Staying on site lets you experience the bamboo grove around 6 p.m. with almost no crowds, which is fantastic. The Gio‑ji temple is worth a visit. The host is very friendly, and the amenities are comfortable. I had a single room and felt right at home. The downside is that there are several rooms, so sharing showers, toilets, or dealing with noise can be a bit inconvenient. The building has two toilets and two showers, so a little planning helps.

This spot was perfect for me. Coming from Tokyo, the area is much quieter and on the edge of the countryside. The bamboo forest, monkey park, and a lovely waterfall are all a 5‑to‑15‑minute walk away. The lodging is 5 minutes from town and several onsen—fo fo no yu onsen was recommended by the staff and was lovely. I accidentally booked two nights instead of three, but the staff were very helpful and arranged another room without any hassle. The toilet and shower are separate from the room, and everything was very clean. Two train stations bring you into central Kyoto/Osaka. I’d book this place if you want decent accommodation in a quieter area. The scenery is stunning; central Kyoto was hectic. The beds are firm, which suited me. There are no USB ports, but plenty of sockets, so bring adapters.
