“Lovely host and comfortable rooms.”
The location is close to town. The stairs were a bit of a hassle.

The Dozy Deer, a newly renovated guest house in Windermere, sits a short walk from the town centre and 400 m from cafés such as Homeground. Constructed from local Lakeland stone, it lies 15 minutes’ walk from the railway station and provides easy access to Orrest Head and Millground trails. Rooms include en‑suite bathrooms, TV, hairdryer, tea‑coffee facilities, and a complimentary bean‑to‑cup coffee machine.

The central location is great, and the standard double bed is comfortable. The owner is very welcoming and helpful! Street parking is free. They gave recommendations for breakfasts that fit any budget, and the hot tip was spot on! Be prepared for very small rooms; room #1 had barely any space to move around the bed. Rooms 1 & 2 had no electrical sockets near the bedside tables. Knowing this in advance will make your stay in Windermere a lot better.

The room was spotless and cozy, and Beth greeted me with a friendly smile, even offering a bottle of shampoo when I mentioned I hadn’t noticed it was missing from the room. She let us drop off our luggage after check‑out, which was a huge convenience. The place sits right near the town centre and the train station, and I appreciated the little dining area stocked with a coffee machine, a mini fridge, water and fruit each morning. On the downside, the bathroom had no hangers for the hand towel, no shelves for toiletries, and we spotted two spiders in the upper corners of the window.
