The room was well equipped and had a distinct character, unlike a generic hotel room. After a long day of walking and browsing book shops, it was great to head downstairs and enjoy the pub’s drinks and meals. The only drawback was the lack of cooling options: the room got sweltering hot, there was no air‑conditioning (understandable for an old building), and no fans to help lower the temperature.

Because the building is old, the room still featured original beams and other historic details, giving it plenty of space. The four‑poster bed was nicely carved, fitting the room’s style even if it’s relatively new. Breakfast on the last day was fantastic—home‑cooked, fresh, and with plenty of choices. The stairs leading to the room were uneven, but that’s hard to fix. The bathroom fan didn’t seem to work, and the shower drain was slow to empty.

The location is great, the beds comfortable, and the garden nice. Breakfast was not included in the price. I went to get a drink from the bar at 9.45 after being out and was told the bar was closed.

The staff were friendly, the breakfast options were great, and the large outdoor patio and beer garden were perfect for the hot weather. The pub felt like the heart of the community, with locals and guests mingling for a lively vibe. Everything else was fine.
