The host was kind when I mentioned I’d be heading out early for a hike; he even prepped breakfast the night before and respected my vegetarian preference. The shower was warm, though oddly the tap at the sink never provided hot water. I chose this spot because it was closer to the trekking routes than Huaraz. The village itself – aside from the main square – is fairly rough, which is also true of Huaraz. Unfortunately there was no heating, so I woke up shivering the first night. The insulation was poor: afternoons were too hot, mornings too cold. The worst part of my stay was the first two nights of the four, when a chaotic school bell rang every 20 seconds across the street, starting late afternoon and continuing until almost 10 pm, despite the promise it would stop by 9 pm. The noise even carried several streets away. Early in the morning, tuk‑tuks gathered at the corner, honking loudly, so despite being a bit farther from the center it was still noisy. Luckily I only experienced this for one night, as I had already left for hikes earlier.
“Complacido durante mi estadía”
The place was spotless, the staff friendly, and the breakfasts were excellent. Mr. Rousel offered personalized attention and was very kind.
“Great place and the host is a ray of sunshine!!!”
For the price, this place was excellent. It was clean enough and comfortable for a few nights, with a hot shower. The breakfast was basic but good, featuring nice hot coffee, juice, and wonderful bread with avocado and jam. The host was very personable and easy to deal with; he even gave me a ride to the airport when my original taxi was late. The location is nice, about 5 blocks from Plaza de Armas, so it’s still close enough to grab a bite or whatever. WiFi worked great! I don’t let this affect my score because my rating is based on many factors, including price. If you’re after something fancy with bells and whistles, this isn’t it, but the host’s personality and genuine kindness are what shine.
“Perfeita”
Very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Nothing else.
“100% recomendado”
The hospitality was absolutely outstanding.
