Family‑run Hotel San Francisco sits 50 m from Cala Gonone’s beach, nestled between the Gulf of Orosei’s sea and surrounding mountains. Rooms feature marble floors, air‑conditioning, TV, fridge, and most include private terraces or balconies. Guests enjoy a buffet Italian breakfast, sea‑view restaurant with fresh‑fish and wood‑fired pizza, free motorbike parking, and optional airport/port transfers and boat excursions.

The room was large, comfortable, and well equipped. The bathroom was very well furnished. Breakfast was pleasant, served as a self‑serve buffet. The reception was very friendly. The downside was the lack of a parking space for cars, though a paid public parking was nearby (free from 8 pm to 8 am). There was no sea view, even though the sea is not far away.

The location in the town is good. The description of the room as having a terrace and sea view was misleading: the terrace looked like a small prison yard, one side with a barred view, and three sides with high walls blocking sight. There was a completely unusable, broken table, a wobbly chair, a clothes dryer, and two battered air‑conditioners on it. It was not inviting at all (see photos)! Other rooms had attractive balconies, so I just got unlucky. The single beds in the double room moved apart during the night.

The location was fine. I booked a room advertised as having four single beds, but when I arrived it had a double and two singles. I was told we hadn’t requested any specific layout even though the booking said four singles. We had to ask for extra linens to split the double, and the staff said “nothing they could do” and left us to make the bed ourselves.

The hotel is very clean. The breakfast is fine. The staff are friendly. The location is VERY central. The downside is the noise from the air‑conditioning and refrigeration units at the entrance, both day and night. We parked our motorcycles in a small public parking spot in front of the hotel (the photos do not reflect reality).

The breakfast was very good, with boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, cold cuts, and sweet pastries. The staff were friendly. The hotel is very close to the port, which is the starting point for boat trips.
