Hui Boutique hotel

The staff were really friendly and let us check in at odd hours without any hassle. They even helped us line up a driver for the next day. The inn sits right on Tunxi Old Street and looks exactly like the pictures – every little detail is taken care of. Only thing missing is a breakfast service, but there are plenty of cafés and restaurants just downstairs, so it isn’t a big deal.

“Historic, unique homestay in the heart of the pedestrian street”

Staying in this historic homestay puts you smack in the middle of Tunxi’s pedestrian street, with food stalls and shops all around, yet the room itself is surprisingly quiet and calm. I couldn’t find any downside.

“Good location, old traditional hotel, with the pros and cons that come with that”

Tucked away in a narrow lane of the old town, the hotel lives in a genuine Ming‑Qing era building with antique furniture, and you can pick either a traditional Kang bed or a regular one, both fitted with modern, comfy mattresses. The shower has good pressure, but being on the ground floor there’s an occasional sewer smell drifting up from the drains, which seems to be a common issue here.

“10/10!”

The hotel is a gorgeous example of Anhui architecture, with a spotless room and a bed that felt just right. Its spot is ideal for wandering Tunxi, and the staff went above and beyond – they organized transfers to the train station, set up trips to Huang Shan and nearby Anhui villages, and even took us to a tea shop to sample and buy local tea. I’d definitely recommend it.
