“Lovely”
Dora was lovely and did everything she could for us, breakfast was great, the location is superb, the room was a bit smaller than expected but fine, and Dora moved us to save us from climbing to the top of the house.

Good location, lovely room, nice breakfast, really kind and helpful host, and nothing negative.

The location was ideal for exploring the island, and Douglas offers a solid network of trains, trams, and buses; plenty of good eating spots were within walking distance; Dora the host was very helpful, meeting us at 10 pm when we arrived on the late boat and showing us our room; the buffet‑style breakfast had a great selection. The mattress was a little soft compared to what we prefer; the Victorian building has steep staircases, which were fine for us but could be difficult if you have mobility issues.

Dora, the manageress and amazing host, was outstanding; the location was convenient, just a short walk to everything; the breakfast master chef was excellent; the breakfast options ranged from tasty cooked dishes to continental choices; the heritage‑like building was nicely restored; two lovely parks lay right across the road—one spacious with picnic benches, the other with a mysterious little forest walk; the bed was comfortable with handy power points and charging ports; the room was clean and the cleaning staff pleasant; the price was reasonable. Things that weren’t for everyone (but didn’t bother me during my six‑night stay) included a narrow staircase; the rooms were good but not fancy; mild creaky floorboards here and there; and breakfast might not be available in winter (check).

The location was good; breakfast was okay, though some items could have been warmer; the host was very attentive and helpful, and Tommy the chef was accommodating; each day when we returned from breakfast the room had been cleaned. We were disappointed with the room—very small, cramped, and dated, a bit like a step back to B&Bs from the 1960s/70s; we were on the 3rd floor, 46 stairs up with no lift, plus 8 very steep/high steps up to the property from the curbside with no apparent disabled access; the double bed was comfortable and the bed linen was decent quality, a king‑size bed would have been better but wouldn’t have fit; the bathroom, though very clean, had a damp smell, obviously because there was no window and only a small extractor fan.
