Sleeping to the sound of waves while looking out at the sea gave us a truly out‑of‑the‑ordinary experience, and the BBQ area and tent with a bed and air‑conditioning were comfortable, though a cockroach showed up inside the tent and the toilet door was misaligned, making it hard to open and causing a bit of panic.

The location, food, tent and barrel sauna were all good, and our grandson’s first dip in the almost‑private beach made him beam with joy, but one of the two toilets was broken and the remaining restroom’s door was difficult to open.

The place was exceptionally beautiful, right on the beach where you can hear the waves and birds; the staff were super friendly and even organized a vegetarian BBQ and breakfast for us, and you can take a bus from Okayama, Kojima, or Uno to Shibukawa and walk a few minutes; we visited Naoshima from here and it was my personal highlight of the Japan trip.

The staff were wonderful and the sea‑mountain‑sky setting was unbeatable, with three team members all being pleasant; breakfast by the sea is a must‑try, summer stays are fantastic, and spring is quieter with fewer bugs, plus the sauna is highly recommended – there were no real drawbacks, though the constant sound of waves at night might keep very light sleepers awake, and those seeking hotel‑level cleanliness might prefer a conventional hotel.
