I really enjoyed my stay. The accommodation was outstanding, and the house is absolutely gorgeous. I was lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful dinner with local wine, and as I was biking the A2O, I especially appreciated the incredible sandwich for lunch! Great conversation, a lovely fire, and genuine hospitality made this a very memorable stay. Highly recommended!

We were thrilled with our time there, especially the newly rebuilt barn, the simple yet tasty breakfast, the gorgeous art deco, and the thoughtful touches sprinkled throughout. The house and its host have a compelling backstory; Hugh and his family shared their experiences, teaching us a lot about New Zealand and its past. No complaints.

The most incredible spot in NZL. I got lucky booking Hugh’s place before my flight; it was warm, stylish, and stocked with items from around the world. Each room has its own theme and surprising delights. After four or five glasses of wine, Hugh and I swapped stories about our travels. It’s inspiring to see how he rebuilt his home after the fire. I wish I could have stayed longer, but it’s a reason to return. No issues.

My mum and I had a lovely stay with Hugh. He was super friendly and gave us great restaurant tips in Twizel. His breakfast was really nice, and we genuinely enjoyed chatting with him. We absolutely adored Tay and Coco Chanel! Coco Chanel would come and ask for pets in the TV room at night, and Tay Tay was always happy to get belly rubs. The location was beautiful, with a sky full of stars at night and Lake Ohau nearby. A warm, relaxing, memorable stay—100/10! The only downside: no restaurants nearby, so we had to drive to Twizel, which is not too far but takes about 25 minutes.

Hugh & Dwayne were super welcoming and helpful. The barn is beautifully decorated and the rooms are exceptionally comfortable. The included breakfast was a lovely start to each day we spent there. The location itself is gorgeous and offers plenty of quiet beauty to explore. Hugh was very helpful in giving us more info on activities, places to visit, and places to eat in the area.
