K's Guesthouse offers all the perks of a youth hostel: a shared lounge and kitchen for mingling, a book swap, Lonely Planet titles, and very friendly young staff who are seasoned travelers. The dorms feature high‑quality Japanese beds, and some rooms come with ensuite bathrooms. We also appreciated the mix of ages among guests, and there were no issues.

Close to the train and bus station and easy to reach the historic district, the common area was cozy, and the room was spacious enough to store luggage comfortably.

The house feels very welcoming, the room is simple yet comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped; plus it’s conveniently located right by the Takayama station, with no problems.

The location is good, the staff are available and kind, but the dorms are a bit small and the bathrooms are also cramped; I would have preferred not to have the top bunk in the dorm.
