The spot is fantastic for the Blackstairs mountains, and breakfast was superb—fresh, homemade breads, jams, and home‑grown grapes. The only suggestion is a path to the barn in autumn instead of grass, otherwise everything was perfect.

We absolutely adored our time at Blackstairs Shepherds Huts, especially the engaging mushroom foraging workshop we joined. Mary and Robert were outstanding hosts and true mycological experts, turning the weekend into a blast. I’m already looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful, creative, magical place - Mary is a gem, helpful, kind, interesting and gracious host. Seriously top notch and we only wished we had more time to stay - truly an amazing place and host. Loved it all!

The breakfast was solid, and the location works well as a base. On a rainy night, the toilet facilities felt a bit distant.
