“Worth the 90 min bus ride from Taichung”
A charming boutique hotel with a lovely attached restaurant, just a short walk from the lake. Elvis, a former Michelin‑star head chef, runs the restaurant and brings Nantou native ingredients into Western dishes. The nightly rate includes a fantastic breakfast, usually served around 9‑10 am, but they kindly let us in 15 minutes early for the 9.40 bus. Eric was fantastic at both check‑in and as the breakfast chef. The only downside was that we had no hot water for an evening shower; the staff eventually turned it back on, probably a cost‑saving measure.
