The owner waited for us until late in the evening to welcome us and explain everything we needed to know. The room was clean and comfortable, and overall it was very good for the price. The bathroom was really small, and there was no floor squeegee to remove the water after showering. You have to step into the shower area first to get to the toilet, so the floor gets wet. It was actually quite funny for us! 😂

“Wonderful accommodation in a lovely small town”

A lovely place. The accommodation is small but very cozy and had everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable, and the garden is absolutely beautiful. The surroundings are wonderful, with a small town just a short walk/drive away where you can find lovely cafés, tavernas, shops, and really good food. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!

The place is surrounded by greenery and calm, yet it’s only about a 10‑15 minute drive to the sea and a 30‑minute drive to Chania. The owner is friendly and welcoming, and the price is reasonable. I stayed just one night, and the afternoon was very rainy, which probably made the room feel damp. The room itself was quite humid, the hot water never reached hot—only lukewarm at best—and the shower drain was weak, so the tiny bathroom flooded quickly. The furnishings looked a bit dated and not well maintained.

“A great overnight stay with a generous and warm host”

I got a lot more than I paid for at Stefanos Garden. Stefanos, the owner, was a wonderful person who made me feel welcome and comfortable. When I checked out, he brewed me coffee and chatted with me while I waited for a taxi he’d arranged. The room wasn’t fancy, but the bed was firm and comfy, the AC worked great, and everything else was functional. It’s just a short walk or drive from a cool little town square with a great taverna that spills onto the road beneath a shady tree—an authentic Greek setting with plenty of locals.

“Not the relaxing stay we expected”

We booked one night at Stefanos Garden and ended up with a very disappointing stay. We told Stefanos we’d be checking in around 11 pm, and he sent us self‑check‑in instructions. We arrived just after midnight, followed the instructions, and found another guest asleep in the bed. We called Stefanos, and instead of apologising, he questioned why we’d arrived so late. We explained that we had paid for the room and, since he had provided self‑check‑in instructions, we were entitled to arrive at any time during the night. He then spoke to the other guest, who was travelling alone and was clearly distressed. She said she had checked in around 6 pm and that no one had verified her booking details. The accommodation she had actually booked had a very similar name. Seeing how upset she was, I suggested that Stefanos let her keep the room and simply refund us so we could find somewhere else. He refused, insisting that we stay in the room because we had booked it. The other guest was then asked to leave while the room was quickly cleaned for us. We ended up driving her to her actual accommodation before returning ourselves. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. The room was extremely hot, and when we turned on the air conditioning, the electricity went off completely. We had no power for the entire night—no AC, no lights, no charging facilities. It was impossible to sleep because of the heat, and opening the door wasn’t an option due to the number of insects outside. The following morning, we paid an additional €35 for a late check‑out, which had been agreed in advance. Despite everything that had happened, there was no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience. Based on our experience, we would not stay here again.
