The hostess was very good, making the stay absolutely enjoyable. But we had to paddle the boat in the dark without lights, which worried my son; he thought he saw a stingray in the water and feared our safety at night.

Waking up on a boat at a mooring was an adventure and a wonderful experience. Yet the communication with the host was poor; I had to assertively contact the host to learn how to access the boat, only to find out the host was in South America. The boat is at a mooring about 50 yards from any piers, so I had to get into a small inflatable dinghy and row out. When I arrived that evening it was raining, and because there was no pier, there was no electricity except the boat’s battery. The boat had a generator, but guests were told not to use it.

The derelict-looking boat is moored in the ocean, not at a dock, and the owner claimed it had a motor but lied about parking—there isn’t any. I hope I don’t have to go to small claims; I’ll report this scam to local authorities. He refuses to refund my money, and I couldn’t stay there. The tiny inflatable dinghy that takes you to the boat looked dangerous, everything was sketchy, and he told me to hurry but kept me waiting. This fiasco was not in my vacation budget.
