“Lovely pension next to a small river in the mountains.”
The pension sits beside a small river in the mountains, giving it a truly remote feel, yet a tiny supermarket is only a few minutes’ walk away and Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) is just a 15‑minute drive. I spent a few days there working remotely and it was perfect. The shared kitchen area in the hallway—complete with fridge, water boiler, and microwave—was a big plus, and when I accidentally left some items behind the staff helped me retrieve them. The check‑in process, however, was clunky; they used an online service called “Alfred” that was supposed to send me a keybox code after I finished the paperwork, but it never arrived. I got there well before the official check‑in time, only to find all doors locked and windows dark. After wandering around the building a few times I finally met a staff member who had just gone out for the night, and he assisted me. There was also a phone number at the door that I might have called, but I never got to that point.
