I had booked a luxurious two‑bedroom suite overlooking the sea, but we were handed a storage unit with broken bathroom doors and a filthy interior. The staff told us that if it didn’t suit us we could cancel, so we did and spent the rest of the night searching for another hotel. I rate this experience very poorly.

The garden overlooking the beach was amazing, especially since it’s right beside Smoke and Bitters, giving you a slightly better view without paying for the pricey meal. The spot is convenient for the beach, just a two‑minute walk down the driveway to the beach and the bars and restaurants at Dickwella, and you can also walk to Hiriketiya and the shops in Dickwella if you’re interested. My room was huge, providing plenty of space to spread out and organize my stuff. The staff were incredibly helpful and always available when needed. Breakfast was excellent every morning, and the mango and passionfruit juice I had one morning inspired me to plant a mango tree so I could enjoy it more often. My only downside was that my room was at the back, so I didn’t get the verandah that other rooms had, and I was worried it might be noisy because it faced the kitchen area, but that turned out to be fine.

The location is great, the outdoor area is nice, the people are friendly, and the room is spacious. The bedsheets were clean but had a few permanent stains, and I could hear the air‑conditioning rattling in the room behind mine all night.

The location is excellent, right next to the beach. The room with a sea view actually had no view.

It’s a real gem! The place sits next to Smoke and Bitters, a popular spot with a fantastic ocean view. Tommy, the host, is a cool and friendly guy, and his dogs, Shadow and Blackie, are adorable. We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Tommy went above and beyond to help us secure seating at Smoke and Bitters, which is usually booked a few days in advance. The property offers stunning ocean views and a cozy atmosphere, and we could even see the beautiful sunset by the beach just a few steps away. We woke up early for a peaceful morning walk, which was wonderful. The place was comfortable for the price we paid; it wasn’t a luxury stay, but it was good value for money, especially with the great views and easy beach access—it was wonderful!
