The Wheatsheaf Pub, Kitchen & Rooms

“Great location outside the City centre with a a few pubs and restaurants with a train to Nottingham.”

The rooms sit perfectly for a trip to Bingham, and the complimentary breakfast—though limited to cereals and pastries—adds a nice touch. The restaurant and pub below serve excellent food. If you have limited mobility, the many stairs, including a metal staircase outside the building, might pose a challenge. My wife, who has a bad back, found the beds a bit firm and struggled to get comfortable.

The room was really comfortable, quiet, and the bed gave a great night’s sleep. The shower was powerful, the décor clean and modern, and the pub and restaurant on the faculty floor are great. The continental breakfast was somewhat basic but pleasant, and there’s a Weatherspoons nearby if you want a full English breakfast. The steps to reach the room aren’t suitable for people with mobility issues, and the room above the bar can be noisy if you need an early night, but we were fine.

The room was lovely, clean, and had everything you need. Nothing else to add.

“Lovely room but breakfast let it down just needs to be fresher”

The room was very clean, bright, and modern. The continental breakfast had already been out the evening we arrived, so it wasn’t fresh the next morning; pastries were dry and chewy, not at all fresh.

“A good place to stay, any problems outweighed the stay worth 9 out 10, the scale I prefer.”

Apart from the French breakfast not being replenished as it should have been and a problem with one of the beers, the location was central even for the event at RAF Syerston held on the 20th. The way you got to the rooms was interesting, especially if it was wet, and the breakfast replenishment in the morning was not done properly. The restaurant was excellent and the bar at the front was the sort you would find in old inns.
