“An ideal overnight stay on our cycling tour of mid Wales”
The management were very helpful in changing our accommodation from a 4th floor apartment to a detached bungalow when we explained that one of our party could not climb the flights of stairs. Both the leisure facilities and restaurant were of a high standard. The grounds were well maintained. The hotel met all our needs
“Cleaning and refurbishing is required in Mansion room 2.”
The location, grounds, and views are stunning, and there are pleasant walks around the campus; the reception and bar staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The room was not clean—bedding had a stale smell that kept us awake, the bathroom had a dirty, stained shower curtain, the sofa was old, and the kitchenette cupboards looked worn.
“Very comfortable and peacful”
No breakfast was offered, but otherwise nothing really stood out; maybe the dining options could be better.
“Great view, but very dated.”
The view was amazing and the place was very quiet and peaceful in the middle of the countryside; the weather was great so the kids loved the outdoor pool. Our room was dated, grubby and in need of attention, and the internet never worked—every time we asked staff for an explanation we received a different answer, and it never came online during our stay, which caused major problems because my husband had important work and one of our children with special needs relies on the internet on her iPad to stay regulated. The play park was old and dated, the monkey bars had been patched with a piece of wood but were not rounded or sanded for safety. The welcome was not great, with a long list of rules and a lot of “don’t” statements. Only one bin was provided, yet they expect us to recycle, so more bins are needed.
“Not as happy as stays elsewhere.”
We didn’t have breakfast and the location felt too remote. The facilities were lacking—we had booked the apartment for the outdoor pool and sauna, only to find out the bar was closed on Tuesday.
