Located in Coimbra’s historic centre, Internacional provides air‑conditioned rooms with free Wi‑Fi and private bathrooms overlooking the Mondego River. A 24‑hour front desk offers luggage storage, and the train station lies under a two‑minute walk away. Within 20 minutes’ stroll are the Sé Velha, University, and nearby monasteries, while Choupal National Forest is a five‑minute drive for trails and outdoor activities.

We were only in town for one night, so the location right near the city centre and river made it easy to explore Coimbra in 24 hours. The room was pretty bare, but we only needed a bed and a bathroom, which it had. However, you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach the different floors—no elevator. That worked for us, but if you’re lugging large suitcases you’ll need to be careful.

The location is good, and the reception gentleman is very helpful and friendly. The stairs are a bit steep.

The location is convenient. The shower head needs to be replaced or at least cleaned; there’s no chair, and the shower is too small to dry off. It’s very noisy.

The area is great, right in front of the river and just behind the old town. But there are 69 steep steps to reach the room, making it uncomfortable to carry luggage, and there’s no elevator. The place is very basic; the bathroom is old and small, with only one bar of soap. I wouldn’t recommend it for older people or anyone with mobility issues.
