The room smelled like strong alcohol and made me feel unsafe; a lady was shouting in the background, the TV was already on when we entered, the carpet was filthy, and the lift had a strange odor that made me nauseous. We left immediately, told the staff we couldn’t stay, and she agreed that the hotel had an unpleasant smell she herself disliked.

The shower was nice, the mattress comfortable, and the mirrors and lighting were good; the TV offered many channels, and free Wi‑Fi, a hairdryer, and an iron were provided. I would have liked a spoon for tea and coffee instead of wooden stirrers, and a spare duvet was missing—only spare pillows were available. The carpet needed replacement, the floorboards were creaky, the bathroom paint and sealing could be improved, and the bed frame/base could be upgraded.

The location is very good, a short walk from the railway station, but the hotel sits above weekend night clubs and while the rooms are quiet we kept hearing continuous bass into the early hours, and our room could have used a couple of chairs.

It was close to where we needed to be, but the lower two floors were full of migrants and the receptionist said that if we had been lone females they would have escorted us to our room for safety reasons.
