Akazawa Onsen Hotel

The onsen was fantastic and the room was big—perfect for a relaxing stay.

The day‑time onsen building had a superb, beautiful environment; the building itself was simple but the recreation room was very nice, though there’s no restaurant—only vending machines and microwaves. We didn’t realize we’d booked Red28, a different hotel building, and it was confusing to find it; the room had an odd odor and the broken screen let bugs fly in when we opened the window. Men’s washrooms are on the third floor and women’s on the second, none in the room, so we had to walk around for a break; there are no showers in the building, so after a hot summer walk to the onsen you’d sweat again, and the other facilities are quite far, so because we checked in late due to bad weather we couldn’t use them.

“Property is clean and modern. Getting around was awkward.”

The hotel sits in a lush forest and offers a lot of activities—great for families with kids and teens, including bowling, game rooms, a hot deep‑sea‑water spa, and a day spa with many services. Breakfast was good, and the location is close to several beautiful beaches. However, the property is very spread out, so you have to walk or drive to reach different areas, and at Red28 the shared toilets for men and women are on separate floors.

There were plenty of places to play, but when I stayed at Red28 I found the room had no toilet, which was inconvenient.
