“Nice place, but not recommended for families with young kids”
The property was very beautiful, well‑situated, and the breakfast was delicious with many options. The rooms were nice with thoughtful touches, showing the owners’ care for decor. For many guests this will be a lovely place to stay. The rooms are on the fourth floor, and the steep staircases have a railing on only one side, making them risky for young children. The staircase layout isn’t clearly shown in the photo gallery—only one picture shows a set of stairs, and they’re hard to see in the background—and I would not have booked if they had been accurately pictured. A gate at the top of the stairs can be opened by a small child, so if you have a toddler, be very cautious. When we arrived, the host explained that in a French chambre d’hôte (bed & breakfast), owners live on site, giving it a homestay feel rather than a typical B&B. The profile, however, doesn’t make it clear that guests must walk through the owners’ personal, open living space each time they access their rooms. Because the architecture is open and sound travels easily, there is very little privacy for a family. Finally, our check‑in was extremely uncomfortable. We missed an arrival‑time request buried in a long message and mistakenly thought it was okay to inform them of our arrival time earlier that day. Despite apologizing for the oversight, one host was openly hostile and lectured us at length. Her rudeness made us feel uneasy using any shared spaces and we were eager to leave. The other host and their grandson were perfectly lovely and served a delicious breakfast, so many guests may have a pleasant stay. However, if you choose to stay here, confirm your exact arrival time well in advance to avoid a stressful check‑in.
