The staff were friendly, parking was free, the area was nice, and a notice board offered many local suggestions; there was a restaurant on site and cooking facilities, and rooms weren’t crowded. The room itself was dirty and had chewing gum on the bed frame, though the bedding was clean. The radiators didn’t work, but a plug‑in heater was provided.

The place is great, the house is wonderful, breakfast is good, and the kids up to 10 years only paid £1.

The planetary building is lovely, the staff are welcoming, warm, clean, and straightforward, but YHA, it’s time to modernise: add a chair in the room, stop having smoke detectors that flash all night, stop the noisy clicking heaters, and replace toilet roll holders that only give you one sheet at a time; this isn’t 1973 anymore.
