The hot water was available and the bed was very comfortable, but the room was cold, the heater wouldn’t turn on, the cleanliness was severely lacking (the floor was covered in spider webs and dust behind the bed), the towels were thin and looked like they had been washed in bleach, and the breakfast was very poor.

The place has a lovely vibe, but it was a long walk through the building before reaching the room, so I never got a clear idea of the layout. The hotel was unmanned and I had no clue at the entrance which way to go. The room numbers were poorly marked at the start of the corridor.

The location is good and the rooms feel fresh, though the room itself was a bit quiet.

The setting is ideal for countryside stays, with a fantastic view from Mr Gibson’s house and beautiful gardens; it was the perfect spot for the wedding we attended. The room, however, was just too small.
