“ten out of ten wonderful !”

Where do we start? The hotel and its staff were the absolute highlight of our Greek trip. Everything at this remarkable place is flawless. Kostas brings his architectural expertise to a new level—revamping, restoring, and ingeniously installing beautiful apartments and the main kitchen in his restored Maniot Tower, with sensational terraced grounds that complement the period style. His lighting and furniture design are unbelievable. Most of all, his special hospitality delights in every way. His dedication to guest happiness shows in every detail. A large, well‑thought‑out seasonal menu, designed by his Sifnos friend and restaurateur George (of Omega 3 Sifnos), was excellent! We ate only at the hotel the whole time, and each night we received a special dessert. Kostas’ leisurely, delicious full breakfasts let us hike and swim all day before returning for spectacular sunset dining. His wine list is ingeniously curated from north to south, from mainland Greece to Crete, and every bottle is an adventure! His wine knowledge is a delight to learn and taste. Tainaron Blue is a true treasure in deep Mani, and we’re grateful to Kostas (and his attentive staff) for the high‑level cultural immersion. The owner, staff, beautiful location, view, excellent food, and fabulous infinity pool—all so well designed with comfortable seating—made the sunset the best we’ve seen in Greece. “An exceptional experience all around.”

The property is stunning architecturally, with the natural environment complementing it. Host Kosta was so accommodating he anticipated every need. The staff were wonderful. We had exceptional breakfasts and dinners at the retreat. Overall, our experience at Tainaron was among the best we’ve had in all our years of traveling.

“Serenity and tranquility at a magical location”

We stayed at Tainaron Blue Retreat and it was unforgettable. The 19th‑century tower sits high above the Mani coast, restored beautifully yet still full of character and history, and it feels like a hidden world. The setting is spectacular, especially the infinity plunge pool on the cliffside with breathtaking sea views. The Tower Room itself is a charm: climbing winding stairs to reach it added to the allure, and the room was surprisingly spacious, cosy, and had a lovely private balcony that became our favourite spot for morning coffee. The room was immaculate, refreshed daily, and received a thoughtful evening turndown service each night, complete with chocolates on the table. The bathroom was special, with a bathtub overlooking the sunset. Breakfast was a beautifully presented feast, and the evening meals offered modern takes on traditional Maniot cuisine—every dish thoughtful, fresh, and full of local character, with exceptional quality. What made the stay truly special were the people: Kostas and his wonderful team anticipated our needs effortlessly and personally, with warmth, attention to detail, and genuine passion for hospitality. Tainaron Blue Retreat stays with you long after you leave, so I’ve already booked next year!

“Ein einzigartiger Ort mit ganz besonderem Charakter!”

The Tainaron Blue Retreat feels like a unique architectural gem: an old watchtower transformed into an exceptional tiny hotel with four units, a stunning infinity pool, and several aesthetically pleasing sitting and lying areas that instantly calm you. The blend of historic elements, high‑quality materials, and understated modern design is truly impressive, soothing both eye and soul. The location is fantastic, offering breathtaking sea views and the dramatic Mani coastline, with its vast, wild landscape adding to the place’s specialness. Every day, the multi‑course breakfast varied wonderfully, focused on regional products and Slow Food, and we also enjoyed dining at the hotel in the evenings – a great selection, superb ingredients, and meticulous preparation. Little touches made the stay perfect: pralines waiting in bed each night, the room was refreshed for us, and Costas gave us wonderfully personalized tips for excursions and restaurants. He is the ideal host: attentive and present when needed, yet discreet and never intrusive, making you feel welcomed and personally cared for from the moment you arrive. The Tainaron Blue Retreat is a special place for us – stylish, authentic, quiet, and full of soul, an experience you remember rather than just a visit.
