The food and staff impressed us, but the room faced a blank wall, so it wasn’t a “Room with a view.” The layout was cramped, with almost no space between the twin beds, and one bedside lamp didn’t work. “We are waiting for the handyman,” we said.

The building is beautiful and well‑situated in the village, and the room itself is light, well‑decorated, with a lovely colour scheme, textiles, art prints, and vintage furniture. Dinner and breakfast menus are excellent, with good food quality, though the wine‑by‑the‑glass selection is limited and pricey. The bathroom was a bit too small for comfort, and because our room was at the top of the stairs we could hear people coming and going outside. There was no space to store bags or cases, and the floor space around the bed was limited. The room sat at the back of the hotel and offered no view.

The beds were lovely and the room was extremely clean. Dinner and breakfast were nice, and the location was great. I was almost charged again on arrival, and the bathroom smelled like drains, which wasn’t good.

Breakfast was quick and very good with an excellent menu. We didn’t like the first room we got, so they moved us to a much bigger one that we liked. The stairs to our room were steep and the rope handrail was hard to use. The Twin room we were first given had no space around the beds, just a small gap in the middle, making it hard to get in and out. The room itself was small with a brick wall to look onto, and the bathroom was the only thing that met 4‑star standards. Parking was poor and you had to find a spot on the road outside the hotel.

The staff were very friendly, the location brilliant, and the bar was cozy. They were dog friendly in a sensible way, and the food—especially breakfasts—was excellent and good value. The room had a few minor issues: peeling paint around the shower and a broken toilet seat that was fixed the next day.
