“Bon séjour”
The studio was well‑located and pleasant, but there were no real windows so it felt a bit stuffy, and the terrace/ground floor is under construction for a future house, so it’s not as idyllic as the photos show.

The room was warm in winter, and it was nice to arrive after a village visit and feel cozy; the room and kitchen were clean, and the central location had all the essentials for breakfast, though the accessibility was poor. I felt misled because I thought the terrace was part of the accommodation, but it isn’t; we had to carry dishes up long, dark stairs that are still under construction. We chose this place for the terrace in the room, so the price doesn’t justify it. I noticed from comments that I wasn’t the only one disappointed. They could give village tips, which would be a plus. The location doesn’t mention the accessibility issues, even though most people say it’s a problem. They could also add a triple plug to charge kitchen appliances simultaneously; there’s only one socket, so we had to do everything separately—tea first, toast next, then coffee—ending up all cold.

This booking turned out to be a very bad experience, with a huge gap between the listing and reality, forcing us to find another place urgently. Two days before arrival, we received a very harsh message demanding we arrive before 19:00, with an explicit note that if we were late the booking would be cancelled, no access, yet full payment would be kept. This practice was surprising and added unnecessary pressure before arrival. The exchanges happened via WhatsApp, while Booking’s terms strictly regulate communication with travelers. The tone was demanding, unpleasant, and almost harassing, which is totally unacceptable for a professional booking. To meet this constraint, we had to cut short a family stay on 26 December, despite already complex logistics (car trip to La Spezia, parking, then a train with reduced frequency that period). We knew the place wasn’t particularly aesthetic, but we chose it for a specific reason highlighted in the listing: the terrace/garden, presented as accessible from the accommodation and suitable for outdoor meals, which was the deciding factor for our booking. At arrival, the reality was very different. The accommodation was even more basic than the photos, very damp, dark, and unclean. The biggest shock: there is no terrace or garden accessible from the accommodation. The “terrace/garden” mentioned in the listing is actually several minutes on foot, up many stairs, through a dark alley littered with trash, to reach the outside of another apartment with closed shutters, whose access seems merely tolerated.

Our stay was simply perfect. From the very first moment, the team was charming, attentive, and always ready to give us recommendations about Riomaggiore and the Cinque Terre. The location is unbeatable: in a quiet area yet very close to the center and the station, ideal for exploring the whole region. The apartment is cozy, bright, and very comfortable, with modern décor and details that show the hosts’ care. Everything was impeccably clean and well maintained. The bed was super comfy and the absolute silence at night let us rest like at home. The private terrace: a gem! It offers a panoramic view of the sea and the village that takes your breath away. Having breakfast there or a drink at sunset was one of the best moments of the trip. Moreover, the value for money seemed excellent considering the location, views, and services offered. I would definitely recommend SailorsRest to anyone looking for an authentic, comfortable, and charming experience in Riomaggiore. We’ll come back without hesitation. The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer because everything was already booked. We loved everything.

Unfortunately, the apartment itself is a dark cave, with no natural light and a small window looking at the neighboring building. The humidity was extremely high and the damp smell unbearable. The apartment was very dark, accentuated by black furniture and dark walls; it was impossible to stay without the lights on. The most important thing is that the advertised terrace is not a terrace, but a garden far from the apartment. Yes, looking at the photos, you dream of going to the terrace in pajamas with a cup of coffee, forget it. To access the garden, you have to bring everything, lock the apartment, climb some stairs, open the entrance, and then enjoy your private outdoor space. Another disappointment was the “terrace”: it isn’t the one shown in the photos. I don’t understand why they advertise it if it’s closed. The garden, no doubt, has beautiful views and is wonderful, but it isn’t the one in the photos, so it’s a shame that this isn’t corrected or described in the listing. I think a more honest approach would have been beneficial. Given my experience, I’m surprised by other reviews that misled me. Overall, the property is fine, but the misleading description and the excessively high price for the quality it offers leave me dissatisfied with my choice.
