The place is conveniently located for the Kumano Kodo, actually in Chikatsuyu, and I could order bento boxes for meals because there isn’t much nearby. However, finding the spot was tough; the owner gave me directions, but the path down from the statue was unclear.

The reception was very pleasant, and everything was perfect.

The host was very friendly and breakfast was included. You can grab a cafe near the bus stop for a bite, and you can also order a bento for dinner or a lunchbox for the next day, each costing 1,500 yen. The shower and toilet are basic but hygienic, and you get free cold water, coffee, and tea. The breakfast was small, especially if you’re planning to hike (just one toast, a bit of yoghurt, and some fruit), the bed was hard, and there were no towels.

The place felt like home, and our host was very attentive; the facilities were basic but adequate. The only downside was that it wasn’t on our Nakahechi Route for the Kumano Kodo.

The property sits very close to the trail’s end and about a ten‑minute walk to the store and the two restaurants in town, with free breakfast included. The place was lovely; I had a large room with a comfy bed, a clean shower, and plenty of space to hang out with other guests.
