The hotel was pretty basic, yet the cost‑effective showers and beds helped keep travel expenses down.

It was okay, I guess, but everything else could have been better; the room smelled and was dirty, as if the maids or staff never cleaned it. The floor was peeling and the bathroom was moldy and discolored, giving the impression a dog had been left there and ruined the room.
