The Hampton Inn & Suites San Diego-Poway features an outdoor pool and is located 7 miles from Bernardo Winery. Guest rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, desks, seating areas, microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers, and hairdryers. Suites include sofa beds. The hotel offers breakfast, a convenience store, gym, hot tub, business center, and meeting facilities, and is near Lake Poway Park, Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, San Diego Zoo, and SeaWorld.

The complimentary breakfast was average—the coffee was a bit lukewarm, but otherwise okay. What I really objected to was the maintenance on the HVAC during a weekend stay. We were told to leave our room early in the morning so they could work, so I went downstairs for two hours and asked the front desk if I could return to my room, and she said they hadn’t even started the service! I asked why they would do this on a Sunday versus a weekday or tell someone before the customer booked, but the response was inadequate and irritating. I said they should offer me a reduced rate since I really couldn’t use my room as I wanted, but no help there either! Very disappointed—used to love your hotel there in Poway.

The rooms were clean, but there was an extra $17 for overnight parking that wasn’t disclosed until after booking.

Breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of parking at the hotel.

The location was good. The AC was loud and the pool was extremely hot—front desk said it was heated to 90 degrees, more like a jacuzzi. No one was out swimming, and I wasn’t thrilled about having to pay extra for parking while staying at the hotel.
