The location was great. We checked in late at 5 pm, but at the last minute we were told it would be 6 pm. Eventually we got the door code and could get inside.

“More like a hostel, but not our thing.”
The place was in a good location and clean. A fan in the bathroom would have been nice, and a side table on the right could be useful. There were no bedside lamps, only the overhead light. It was clear this used to be a hostel, which is fine, but not what we want as an older couple. We noticed the property was for sale, so perhaps the new owners will do some upgrades or turn it back into a hostel.

The place is advertised as very basic, and it lives up to that. Clean and functional, the mattresses were surprisingly good. The hostess kindly boiled water for our thermoses so we could have a hot drink in the room, and she was pleasant to deal with. A lounge room near the main entrance offered a table to play games or watch TV. On the downside, there was not even a glass in the room to get water. My husband and I slept in a double bed in a room meant for four, and if four people were there, we’d have to put all luggage on the floor. We were lucky to find a street parking spot; otherwise we’d have had to use a public lot and carry our stuff to the hotel. Later we were told we could pull into the driveway, drop off our things, and then find parking. As seniors, 74 years old, we were grateful that we were fit enough to manage all that in a pinch.
We really appreciated the welcome, the location, the pubs and the food nearby. The room was also very pleasant!
